Based in the Washington DC metro area, Hannele Lahti specializes in documentary and fine art photography. In 2010, she began incorporating audio and video in her projects to create richer narratives and has enjoyed this new challenge greatly. Creating images of daily life in a new, fresh manner is what drives her creative vision and keeps her exploring new places and subjects.
When she's not traveling all over the place, her lens focuses on the trials and tribulations of her 2 rescue dogs at home. The project began with simply cute pictures of her first dog Annie, the dramatic Boston Terrier, but has now morphed into an obsession to understand the impact pets have on our lives.
Hannele is an active member of the photography community of Washington DC. She is the Co-President of the DC Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers and is on the Advisory Board for FotoDC, Inc. She is also a member of the Women Photojournalists of Washington and the National Press Photographer's Association.
